Terms of Service

Last updated: August 1, 2026

Agreement to terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legally binding agreement between you and Lykke Technologies ("we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of the Pathshaala web application at pathshaala.ai and its related APIs and services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree that you have read, understood, and accept these Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service.

Where you accept these Terms on behalf of a school, foundation, trust or other organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to do so, and "you" means that organisation.

1. The Service

Pathshaala helps students:

  • • Read NCERT textbooks in the browser with saved reading progress.
  • • Browse AI-generated chapter-by-chapter textbook wikis with summaries, quizzes, study guides, and visual explainers.
  • • For approved instructors: generate, regenerate, and edit wiki content, build courses from their own material, and share them with their class.
  • • For approved schools and foundations: administer teachers and classes, and see participation and progress across them.

NCERT content. Textbook content displayed in the reader is published by NCERT and remains the property of its respective owners. It is presented for personal, educational use. We are not affiliated with NCERT, CBSE, or your educational institution.

2. Accounts

You can register with an email and password or sign in with Google. You are responsible for the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account. Reading the open library needs no approval.

3. Applying for access

Teaching and administrative capabilities are granted on application and review. Instructors apply at /forinstructors, schools at /forschools, and foundations and trusts at /forfoundations.

What you tell us

You represent that the details you submit — including your name, contact details, organisation and role — are accurate, and that you are authorised to apply on behalf of the organisation named.

Our review

We review each application ourselves. We may approve it, decline it, or ask you for more information before deciding. Approval is at our discretion, and access already granted may be suspended or withdrawn — for example where the details given turn out to be inaccurate, or where the tools are misused.

Your web address

An approved school or foundation is issued an address of the form pathshaala.ai/yourname. We allocate that address: where two organisations share a name we may add a location or other suffix, and certain names are reserved for the platform. The address remains part of the Service and may be withdrawn or reassigned if the account is closed.

4. School and foundation administrators

An approved school or foundation is given administrator accounts. Administrators can see the teachers, classes and student progress recorded within their own institution, add and remove other administrators and teachers, and export reports.

  • • The institution decides who holds administrator access, and is responsible for removing people who leave.
  • • Administrators must use the information they can see only for the education and welfare of their own students.
  • • Every administrator of an institution sees the same information; there is no private view.
  • • The institution is responsible for the accuracy of the records it creates, including the students it enrols.

5. Students, and children's data

Many Pathshaala users are school pupils under the age of 18. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, processing a child's personal data requires verifiable consent from a parent or lawful guardian.

  • • Where a school, foundation or teacher adds students to the Service, that school, foundation or teacher confirms it has obtained the necessary parental consent, or has another lawful basis, and is the data fiduciary for those students.
  • • We process student data to provide the Service and on the instructions of the institution that enrolled them.
  • • We do not use children's data for behavioural advertising, and we do not track or profile children for advertising purposes.
  • • A parent, guardian or school may ask us to correct or delete a student's records by writing to us at the address below.

Our Privacy Policy describes what is collected, what is shared with AI providers, and how long it is kept.

6. AI-generated content

Wiki content is generated by third-party AI providers (including Google Gemini and OpenAI) from the textbook pages or material you or instructors select. See our Privacy Policy for details on what is shared with providers.

Accuracy is not guaranteed

AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading. Generated summaries, quizzes, study guides, and visuals are a study aid only — verify against the textbook itself before relying on them for coursework or exams. Instructor-edited sections reflect the editor's judgment, not ours.

Not professional advice

Output from the Service is not legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice.

7. Intellectual property

The Service — its source code, interfaces, designs, and the Pathshaala marks — is owned or controlled by us and protected by copyright and trademark laws. NCERT textbook content belongs to its publishers.

Material you upload

Material an instructor uploads or writes — notes, question banks, slides, recordings — remains theirs. By uploading it you grant us a non-exclusive licence to store it, process it (including by sending it to the AI providers named above), and display it to the students and colleagues you share it with, for as long as you keep it on the Service. You confirm you have the right to upload what you upload.

Generated wikis

Wiki content generated from a public textbook is inherently non-unique; we make it available to readers of the Service and may regenerate, edit, or remove it at any time. Wiki content generated from an instructor's own material is available only within that course, to the people it has been shared with.

8. Prohibited activities

  • • Systematically scraping books, wikis, or APIs to build a collection or dataset without permission.
  • • Misrepresenting AI-generated content as your own original work in violation of your institution's policies.
  • • Abusing instructor tools to publish harassing, defamatory, hateful, or illegal content.
  • • Using administrator or teacher access to view student records you have no educational reason to see.
  • • Interfering with security features, rate limits, or access controls.
  • • Uploading viruses or malicious code, or attempting to disrupt the Service.
  • • Using the Service in violation of applicable law.

9. Third-party services, suspension & termination

The Service depends on third-party providers (cloud hosting, databases, AI models, email delivery). Features powered by those providers are also subject to their terms.

We may suspend or terminate accounts, teaching access, or an institution's portal where these Terms are breached, where an application was based on inaccurate information, or where continued access would put students' data at risk. You may close your account at any time; an institution may ask us to close its portal, and we will delete or return its records as described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Disclaimer & limitation of liability

The Service — including all AI-generated output — is provided "as-is" and "as-available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost data or academic consequences — arising from your use of the Service or reliance on its output.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have under law that cannot be limited by agreement.

12. Changes & contact

We may update these Terms; we will update the date above and give notice of material changes through the Service. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
